There is an adage 'The Dawn Shows The Day...' Sri Kailash Patra heightened musical perception since childhood and made a mark as an outstanding Violinist in the world of Hindustani Classical Music. He has astonished the music world with his unique music improvisation and crystal clear tonal quality.
Hailing from the family of musicians, Kailash was initiated in the art of vocal music and playing Harmonium from his mother. He received the initial musical training in violin from Smt. Padmini Khuntia. Further he was adequately disciplined in violin recital by Pt. Sunakar Sahoo, a violin exponent of Orissa and Anthony Franchise, a leading western violin player of Chennai. Later under the tutelage of Late Pt. S.R. Kulkarni of Gwalior Gharana of Belgaon district, Maharashtra, he learnt the pristine beauty and form of the tradition of Gharana. Presently he is under the tutelage of Pt. D. K. Datar and Pt. L.K. Pandit, the living legends of Gwalior Gharana.
Kailash's magnetic performance always attracts the audience whether in the USA, Canada or his motherland India. Important features of Kailash's Baaj (playing style) are his natural ability to play the 'Gwalior Gayaki Ang', typical North Indian Gamak Patterns, clarity, melodious sequence of notes and his zeal for perfection. He also sings the composition along with its instrumental rendering. His vocal ariso has won appreciation from lovers and art circles. Gifted with a melodious voice, touching the soul of the listeners, he is a multifaceted artiste of high calibre.
Kailash patra is an 'A-grade' artiste (Hindustani Classical) of All India Radio and Television. He holds a Masters Degree in Music and also a graduate in Political Science.
Kailash displayed equal affection for light and light classical music, as his composition got the FIRST PRIZE in India in the AIR music competition in 1996. He is a very popular violinist for Mumbai-Delhi-Orissa film circuit. He has built up a commendable sense of Music Direction and Music Arrangement. As a Music Arranger he has recorded a large number of albums for HMV, Music Today, T-Series etc.
As a solo violin player, he participated in numerous prestigious classical concerts, National Programmes and Sangeet Sammelans enthralling audiences by his brilliant performances. His aesthetic style of holding punctuation speak about his mastery over his instrument and over all in music.
